Abducted! - Guerillas in the Midst

Evjue Theatre at the Bartell

A4 I enjoyed working with Guerillas in the Midst because I like to take a break and do some experimental theatre. This show was one of my personal favorites. An alien has invaded the performer's mind and has brought with it many other human minds that it has consumed along the way. Each makes an appearance throughout the production taking over the host's movements and speech. It isn't clear where we meet the performer. Is he in a surgical area on earth or trapped in a spaceship? The lighting is simple with subtle shifts between characters. I surrounded the small stage with old beam projectors with no color. I loved their look and thought they resembled examination lights. I then designed the light fixture ring hung from the ceiling to further the feeling of being under the microscope. In the center of the ring I hid two very bright lights for stark down light. In this Photo the lighting is soft for one of the more delicate characters.
A6 Very stark lighting as the realization of hopelessness sets in.
A5 As the alien takes over, the lighting gets colder.
